Fans attending Saturday's home opener are being asked to bring a little extra money.
After talking with the Red Cross, the University decided to use the football game Saturday as an opportunity to reach out and help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Donation canisters will be placed around the stadium and manned by student athletes and Red Cross volunteers.
All you need to do is drop some loose change or a few bills into the canisters on your way in to the stadium. Additionally, 10-percent of concession sales will be donated.
UW Madison Chancellor John Wiley says that if everyone at the game contributed $1 it would amount to more than $80,000.
Contributions to the Red Cross will be used to provide safe water and food as well as health care and counseling.
