Some Madison aldermen are pushing to loosen the city's smoking ban.
The new proposals will be introduced at tonight's city council meeting. They want people to have the right to smoke in bars, bowling alleys, and separately ventilated areas in restaurants.
Other city council members will offer a resolution to have the public vote on the smoking ban on an April referendum. They plan to also propose a temporary exemption for businesses who have been hit hard by the smoke-free ordinance.
