NEENAH, Wis. (AP) -- The Winnebago County coroner concludes that a 2-year-old boy who died in his home this week was killed.

Neenah police on Tuesday asked the Milwaukee County district attorney's office to file homicide charges against the boy's mother.

Authorities say they referred the case to Milwaukee County because the woman is an employee of Winnebago County, where the death took place.

Police were called to the woman's home early Monday morning to investigate a report of a death.

The officers who arrived found the boy unresponsive. Attempts to revive him failed.

To Anonymous 11:59pm. How, exactly, would you suggest we enforce the license to have children? If someone fails the license exam (or what ever is used) should we force sterilization on those not passing the test?

Someone should track Kelly down, and get her a psych exam and possibly take her kids. I assume it is sarcasm, but jeez!

Here we go again. Another child dies in the hands of a unfit parent. A person has to get a license for just about everything, so why not have a state law on a person having to get license to have a child. This may stop some parents from harming thier children, as if they can not pass the test, then they can not have children. Another one goes to show they are not capable of raising children. But also I believe, if you kill someone like a baby, they will get off easier. I am not sure why a Judge does not see it for what it is really about. Lock them up for life.

what if she is telling the truth? what if she really did hear voices? if people believe that the virgin mary carried and gave birth to god's child, then why not believe this woman's claim of hearing voices to kill her child?

No, the only thing that is crazy is that a woman murdered her child and all people have to blab about is state employees?? Any time there is a crime committed and the story is on this site, the majority of comments have absolutely nothing to do with the content of the story. I am so sick of hearing people complain about the police, teachers, state employees, immigrants, homeless, etc. and let's focus people! There are more serious issues to contend with here.

To Anony. The useless, over paid State Employee, Assassinate you and the others? no, that would just be a bigger waste that one one already created keeping you and the others employed. Here, why not try to impress us tax payers and actually make an attempt in doing something constructive tommorow. You and the other useless morons may actually get the rare satisfaction of knowing you acomplished something throughout the day.Last but not least , crazy? You've clearly been there for quite sometime from your comments.

Nice try Nick, If thats the case I would encourage the parents to go after the people directly involved in oil prices/ fuel increases and litterally start shooting those people. THAT WOULD BE DESERVING!! Not a little kid. Thinking like that also doesn't give you enough smarts to use a condom on your part as well as protection on hers. This B.S. of her reading her Bible or whatever excuse she thought up of at the last minute is a joke. No one goes from being "normal" (I don't think she has a right to even be in that catagory) to going complete bonkers. She is just another life, statistic wasted and took an innocent child. Period.

Being over religious is a symptom of mental illness. Her co-workers were probably not aware of it. As a state employee, I can say that most of my co-workers have been employed with the state for years. You have to be sane to last for years because the public is always trying to assassinate us. There are loonies in every work place. And, the state of WI is a very large work place. Yes, there are spots where it is easy to "get in." Most of those people promote out of those positions into better ones. The ones who don't or can't are less skilled but usually decent people. I don't believe that the criteria for a county employee is as strict as for a state employee. But I could be crazy, too.

I know many of you may think that i am crazy when you read what I am about to say but before responding just sit and think. I am not finding excuses cause anyone that lays a hand on a child deserves the death penalty but this may be why there are so many child deaths or injuries **Children cost a lot of money and right now our economy is hurting BAD. People are loosing jobs and businesses are closing so those who have lost their job will have a hard time finding new jobs. Children are needy and I think that becuase the parents are stress and children do NOT understand what we are going through they are the ones that are paying the price. Now I am in no way saying ALL PARENTS becuase that is not the case. Just think a tank of gas is going for almost $45-50.00 compared to $25-30.00. These are hard times for all. Just remember that our children have no idea what is happening so rather than take anger out on them try and exoplain to them and see if they understand. You will be suprised!

Mary and Anon. It may not occur to you but somebody may be saying that in order to be employed by the county, and depending on the type of job he/she is applying for, the state and county usually, not always, but usually have various aptitude tests along with several interviews. In addition to this, the person may be thinking that somewhere along the line if he/she is slightly over religious or has a bit of unusual behavior this may have surfaced.

this woman said that voices in her head told her to do it when she was reading the bible or something. she suffocated him and then layed next to him for about 15 minutes. go read more details in the green bay press-gazette or appleton post crescent newspaper. and how could the county have known her state of mind at the time of hire? employers don't know or won't suspect anything if a candidate has no record.

To: Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 09:25 AM "I guess that speaks volumes about the countys hiring criteria. What a bunch of idiots." Place blame where it should go - on the woman who killed her kids. Why make this about where she worked? Anyone can hire someone who appears to be one way and ends up another. I don't believe it speaks at all to the countys hiring criteria.

This is the 3rd child killed by the hands of their parents in under four weeks in Wisconsin. What is going on here? If you need help raising your child ask for it. If you can't parent your child, give it to someone that can. You are the adult start to act like it. I hope they both never see the light of day again.

Another VERY SAD case. I'm sure the mother will claim "someone" told me to do it. Give me a break, I am so tired of hearing that out of every parents mouth that kills a child. Maybe "someone" should tell us to hunt down all these parents-an eye for an eye!!
