A 19-year-old girl is dead after a crash on E. STH 59 in Rock County.
First responders from several different departments were called a crash with injuries on E STH 59 near E Gould Rd, just before 1 p.m. this afternoon.
Emergency crews found a Chevy Lumina driven by a 19-year-old female from Milton, Wisconsin, had been struck by a Van on the passenger side. The 19-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van was driven by a 56-year-old man from, Whitewater, Wisconsin. He was transported by Flight for Life to Mercy Hospital in Janesville and is currently in serious condition. There was also a 63-year-old man in the passenger seat of the van who was taken to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.
Initial reports say the 19-year-old was traveling eastbound on E STH 59, when she lost control on a curve at E Gould Rd and began to slide into a ditch. As the driver attempted to steer out of the ditch, the vehicle spun counterclockwise and entered the westbound lane of traffic and was struck by the van.
The 19-year-old female was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Speed and road conditions appear to be a factor in the crash.
