MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Four men and a woman face federal charges that they operated a marijuana-growing operation out of four suburban Milwaukee homes.

A criminal complaint charges 47-year-old Steve Dinh Nguyen, 38-year-old Timothy Nguyen, 36-year-old Michelle Nguyen, 52-year-old Thanh Van Nguyen and 50-year-old Thanh Van Nguyen. All five were born in Vietnam but have been in the U.S. for years, and at least four are confirmed citizens.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mario Gonzales says Steve Nguyen, Timothy Nguyen and the Thanh Van Nguyen are brothers. He says Michelle Nguyen and Timothy Nguyen are married.

If convicted, each could face a prison term ranging from 5 to 40 years, plus a fine of $2 million.

OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) -- Five people have been arrested in the Milwaukee suburbs after investigators discovered a sophisticated marijuana growing operation.

Police say they've confiscated more than 1,000 marijuana plants Tuesday. One search warrant was executed in Oak Creek and two others were executed at properties in Franklin.

Video obtained by WISN-TV shows marijuana plants the size of palm plants being taken from a home.

A witness says the plants were hauled away in a semi after police kicked in the door of a home to serve a warrant.

Total BS! I bet every officer involved in this case has a secret poison of their own to mellow down with, wether prescription or alcohol. Even if their prefrences are different, they are still hipocritical. Whats wrong with useing this drug to save the economy instead of destroying peoples lives? There are some dirty jobs in the lowerclass community that still have to be done by someone and I see nothing wrong with looking forward to that relief at the end of the day that will help you get to sleep without dehydrating you, killing your liver or making you vomit and wake up with a headache. These people are going to jail for trying to make other peoples lives worth living. Try drinking after working at a sloughter house or sewage treatment plant for a 12 hour day.

Shameful!...cannabis prohibition is a complete and total policy failure, and these poor folks will sit in prison for decades over this...ridiculous!

3 million, yeah right. That would be a semi truck load of pot.

I watched the news last night regarding this and was laughing my butt off. First of all, they estimated the street value of this bust at 3 million dollars? Where do they come up with these numbers? LOL Secondly, these guys had no idea what they were doing. Even fools know you will not get potent weed without growing them in hydroponics. Have to agree fatty, police spending too much time taking down the small dealers rather than going after kingpins. I mean really, pot smokers usually will be too mellow after smoking to get into any trouble unless you lock up the refrigerator. Now watch, these guys will get YEARS in prison for this while the drunk drivers who are on their 5th and 6th offense and kill someone will get MAYBE 10 years at the most! Call that justice? I sure as hell do not!

I'm so glad that this city, state and country are spending so much money on the farce that is the "war on drugs". Billions of dollars wasted on a program that really does not exist. As far a marijuana, stop wasting my tax dollars on a program that does not work. This plant has been found to have many values, but society is stuck in the 40's and 50's mentality. Many of the issues cited during that time about marijuana have been found to be untrue. Besides there are alot more people out there addicted to prescribed medications and more people are killed by drunk drivers. Why do we not do something about that? Country has it's head up it's butt for sure. Wake up and smell the erb, sell it commercially and tax it like cigarettes, would see some of the tax burden go down.
