Roger, you are obviously a federal employee, or a poser. Go back to polishing your badge or your mouse. Come in for the press conferance when the locals make the case and take all the credit. I think this practice is something they teach at the academy, probably most of the curriculum. It's obvious to me your working real hard on the case when you have time to reply with this nonsense.

Hey Real! Get a clue! These investigations are handled by the FBI because it deals in federal currency! They may not be the first on scene but they are the main operator when it comes to the investigation! Local departments are only in charge of the bolo and apprehending the suspect if the suspect is not apprehended in 48 hours the FBI and US Marshals start their search! Dont even try to say these local yocals compare to the FEDs because they dont. they dont have the experience, education or training the feds have! The feds are the NFL of Criminal Justice and your local police are in the pop warner league!

Hey Roger, you must work for the FBi. If you did , you would know they show up and take the credit when the work is done. When an arrest is made, look at who did it, probably not the FBI.

Look ma.........the reason for my question is that it seems that it doesnt matter if it is a bank, store or home.....break ins and robberies are becoming way too popular in Madison and Dane County! Open the paper on any given day and read about it...Duh yourself!

Yes! The FBI handles all Bank Robbery's!

anonymous-@3:57: I work at a bank and our cameras are ALWAYS on!!!!!!!!!! There have been new advances in recording equipment... please research things before you go making wild claims... that is just what we need someone telling other people that the cameras in banks aren't on...

Posted by: ma Location: madison on May 22, 2008 at 07:16 AM
ALL banks have security cameras. Most of them do not record all the time, they are activated when someone pushes a button which in turn notifies authorities. "MS" why would you ask a question like that? I am sure she has no reason to have security or cameras for the simple fact she probably does not have large amounts of cash laying around. Duh! What a dumb question!

The bank that was robbed was not in the city. As the report states it is in the Town of Blooming Grove. That is Dane County jurisdiction. I guess if you really want to get technical it's really the FBI's jurisdiction. The FBI is the lead agency for any bank robbery since it is a federal crime. As usual the DCSO press release makes one think they are handling the incident on their own and the FBI is not even mentioned. No surprise.

Anonymous 3:57, I'm not sure where you are getting your information from but the bank that I worked at always had a security camera rolling. There are a lot of measures put in place however it depends on what the robbers, I mean cowards are doing and how they demand the money. They don't generally get more than $5000 since there's not much kept in the drawers...robbing a bank is one of the most stupid ideas I've heard of...

Growing up in the Chicago area, I never felt as unsafe as I do in Madison. Granted, I grew up in a semi-crime ridden lower-middle class suburb, not Cabrini Green, but still, this is out of hand. It's clear the police here need a major overhaul or systematic change that involves getting tough on crime. Madison is quickly devolving from a world class academic community that topped Money magazine's best places to live to a crime pit to avoid. Police improvements can make a big difference in stemming this terrible trend.

Check the Wal-Mart parking lots for these get away vehicles. I noticed a white older looking vehicle without plates described in the Odana Rd Robbery parked in the Monona Wal-Mart parking lot with tickets on it. It's a different department (Monona) but put 2 and 2 together and I will bet it was dumped there. Aren't the local agencies suppose to comunicate with one another? Yeah good job on that one.

So wrong Anonymous at 3:57 PM. Financials "Banks" do have cameras that are working and the technology is getting better and better on the quality of the recordings. Ever heard of Digital imaging. Yeah way better than a security camera that records on tape. See what people have to understand is these places have a plan in place so that the employees and customers don't get harmed when this happens. Hostage situation? Most of the time police aren't called until the suspects leave and the criminals doing these acts already know this. I agree with Dominic Caminitti. FYI way to put your full name out there. We do need to tighten up on Crime here in Madison. It's definately not Southside of Chicago here but it's is a lot worse than it used to be. Our police department here is spread thin. They do put out descriptions of the suspects and get away vehicles if they can. We as a community can help by keeping an eye out on that. If we all do our part it could (COULD) get better.

Sharon.........do you have a security camera or gaurd at your home?

Posted by: Anonymous on May 21, 2008 at 03:57 PM
Most cameras in banks aren't even on or taping. It's too expensive!!

When the funds are low the guns will blow! they are robbing, looting and stealing in madison not because its a bad place its because they can! I read blogs on here everyday and can not get over how the citizens are so amazed by this! If Madison would tighten up its belt and get better police you would not have this problem! Tons of city's have changed their police departments for verious reasons! Miami has for corruption and it worked! Chicago has for hiring the wrong people and it worked! Why cant madison just get real with it and realize its the way their police are conducting business because their police are cowardly bookworms that know nothing about the hustle of the streets! These streets are getting meaner and meaner everyday therefore the cops have to stay one up on that and get tuff! My family and i enjoy visiting madison and really think the majority of people are good but it is so obvious your police are terrible! GET TUFF ON CRIME DONT LET CRIME GET TUFF ON YOU!

Posted by: Sharon on May 21, 2008 at 03:01 PM
I'm not blaming anyone for this happening but the person(s) that did it but could someone tell me if these places have security cameras and/or security guards? I'm not saying this could prevent things like this but maybe keep it from happening so often.

They probably needed gas money

Posted by: Anonymous on May 21, 2008 at 01:31 PM
