Posted Wednesday, January 16, 2013 --- 12:32 p.m.

Press Release from the Beaver Dam Police Department:

On 1/15/13 at 9:01 p.m. officers with the Beaver Dam Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Auto Zone, located at 1632 N. Spring St. in the City of Beaver Dam.

Our initial information indicated that 2 subjects, described as likely being white males in their mid 20's, entered the Auto Zone store. One of the males was armed with a shotgun and the other with a handgun. These individuals ordered the clerks down onto the ground. Both males are further described as wearing black ski masks and black hooded sweatshirts.

After their arrival, a struggle ensued between the suspect with the shotgun and one of the employees. The employee was struck in the head with the shotgun and was transported to the Beaver Dam Community Hospital by Beaver Dam EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects fled in what is described as a newer silver or gray SUV with newer style tail lamps. The vehicle fled east on Seippel Blvd from the scene. The suspects left with undisclosed amount of cash. The shotgun utilized by the suspect has been recovered at the scene.

At this time, no video surveillance is available. Should it become available, an updated release will be sent. The Beaver Dam Police Department was assisted initially at the scene by the Dodge Co. Sheriff's Department and is being provided assistance by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
