Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:
Incident Type: Retail Theft
Incident Date: 02/26/2013 - 3:55 PM
Address: West Towne Mall (Boston Store)
Arrested: Tara I. Hatter, age 37, Madison
Aneaka Mobley, age 38, Madison
Suspects were arrested for Retail Theft. Ms. Hatter was also booked into jail on a tentative Disorderly Conduct charge, and on a Probation Hold.
Victim: Male, age 28, Madison
Details: One of two brazen retail theft suspects pushed and threw a punch at the face of a Boston Store loss prevention officer, saying she wanted to "knock him the (expletive) out." Numerous shoppers directed responding police to an area inside West Towne Mall where the 28-year old victim was trying to keep the suspects from while fleeing Tuesday afternoon.
He says they entered his store, grabbed an empty Boston Store bag from behind a checkout area, and proceeded to fill it with hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. They also grabbed a couple of expensive power toothbrushes, and tried to return them for cash or credit even though they were never purchased.
The loss prevention officer, who was already wise to their criminal enterprise, blocked the transaction, and then tried to stop them after they left the store with the stolen merchandise. He says one suspect, Ms. Tara Hatter, age 37, pushed him and took a swing at him. She connected, but he was not hurt. The security officer says the store will ban the women, for life.
