2 arrested in incident at a Madison tavern

Posted: Monday, July 28th --- 5:30 p.m.

Two women are facing multiple charges after an incident Sunday at a Madison tavern.

A female victim reported to officers on the street that another female had just pointed a gun at her inside the Red Shed Tavern.

Mounted officers observe the armed suspect, 28-year-old Laconda Williams of Madison, (suspect #1) walking on Frances St and make contact.

Other officers working special duty in the Entertainment District responded to assist and suspect #1 began fighting with officers. She was arrested and a handgun was recovered.

Moments later, an acquaintance of suspect #1 emerged and attacked the original victim.

Other officers physically intervened to stop that battery and arrest suspect #2, 24-year-old Asia Townsend of Sun Prairie.

A large, boisterous, and hostile crowd began to envelop these officers and a K9 and Handler that were also out on foot in the Frances Street area.

Additional, officers were dispatched from neighboring districts to assist with crowd management and dissipation.

Suspect #1 and Suspect #2 were both arrested and conveyed to the Dane County Jail.
