UPDATE: DNA helps identify victim in fatal Adams Co. fire

UPDATED Thursday, December 12, 2013 --- 10:35 a.m.

Adams Co. deputies say DNA helped identify a victim in a fatal fire.

The fire happened October 28th at 1456 Evergreen Ct. in the Town of Easton.

A DNA comparison has since identified 55-year-old James Eugene Boone as one of the victims of the fire.

79-year-old Ronald Peak also died in the fire.


UPDATED Wednesday, October 30, 2013 --- 11:04 a.m.

Adams Co. authorities have identified the survivor and one deceased person in a fire in the Town of Easton.

79-year-old Ronald Peak died in the fire. His wife, 77-year-old Joann Peak, remains hospitalized.

Authorities are still awaiting positive identification of the second fatality by DNA comparison.

Investigators say the fire started in a camper parked next to the mobile home on Evergreen Ct. Monday.

Ronald Peak was found in the mobile home, and the unidentified victim was found in the camper.

There is nothing to suggest that the fire was anything other than accidental at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.

The Adams Co. Sheriff's Office says two people are dead and one is injured after a house fire.

It happened early this morning, around 1:39 a.m., on Evergreen Court in the Town of Easton.

Deputies arrived to find the home engulfed in flames, and a resident outside.

That person was taken to the hospital.

Investigators found two other residents, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Names are being withheld at this time pending notification of family.

The fire remains under investigation.
