MADISON--The state's homeland security council is releasing their 2012 report today.
At a press conference with Governor Scott Walker this afternoon, the group's advisor, Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, summarized some of the state's major priorities. He said the largest investment this year was one million dollars to WISCOM--a statewide interoperable communications system that launched in April.
Wisconsin has had some major emergencies within the last year, including the shooting at the Oak Creek Sikh Temple.
Today, the governor spoke a little bit about how that situation was handled. "You never want a scenario like that but in terms of having gone through training prior to that in terms of reaction to it and being prepared to handle that it was almost textbook," said Gov. Walker. "In terms of how they reacted and how all the different entities federal, state and various local governments kicked in at the same time."
