21-Year-Old In Custody After High Speed Chase In Sauk County

Posted Wednesday, September 26, 2012 --- 8:00 a.m.

From the Sauk County Sheriff's Office:

On September 24, 2012, Corbin C. Davis, age 21, from Sauk City, was arrested by the Sauk County Sheriffs Office.

Davis is charged with Robbery, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owners Consent, Eluding, and Operating After Revocation.

On September 24, 2012, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Probation and Parole Offices in the Village of West Baraboo to take Corbin into custody for a violation of his probation.

Upon seeing the deputies arrival, Corbin fled the building, jumped into the back seat of a vehicle in the parking lot and left the area. Corbin had the operator of the vehicle drive to the area of the Westdayl Plaza where Corbin then threaten to kill the driver if he did not get out of the vehicle.

The driver got out of the vehicle at which time Corbin got in the drivers seat and left in the vehicle without the owners permission.

Corbin was spotted on USH 12 near Sauk Avenue by Sheriffs Deputies who attempted to stop him. Corbin fled from the deputies. Corbin continued southbound on USH 12 at a high rate of speed. Corbin lost control of the vehicle on USH 12 at Old Bluff Trail in the Town of Prairie Du Sac. The vehicle entered the ditch on the east side and overturned. Corbin was not injured in the crash and was taken into custody and transported to the Sauk County Jail.

If convicted Corbin could face up to 21 year imprisonment or a $60,000 fine or both.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sauk Prairie Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service.

Sheriff Chip Meister

I VIEWED THE VEHICLE DURING HIS PURSUIT OF ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE THE COUNTY. HE WAS HEADING SOUTHBOUND ON HWY12 NEAR THE CAMPGROUND HEADING UP THE BLUFF NEAR WENZEL CHIROPRACTIC, I WAS HEADING NORTH TO BARABOO, I VIEWED IN MY MIRRORS THE DANGER THAT HE TOOK OF PASSING THE LINE OF VEHICLES ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE SOUTHBOUND LANE IN THE GRAVEL DITCH. I CALLED THE AUTHORITIES WORRIED THERE WAS AN HEALTH EMERGENCY IN THE VEHICLE. SORRY TO HEAR THAT THERE WAS NOT A GOOD RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT BUT VERY GLAD THEY WERE ABLE TO TAKE HIM INTO CUSTODY.
