UPDATE: 2 who died in Wis. standoff suspected in burglary

UPDATED Friday, August 30, 2013 --- 9:27 a.m.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Oshkosh authorities say the couple who robbed a liquor store and later shot themselves to death were also suspects in a home burglary earlier this week.

An Oshkosh Northwestern Media report says deputies planned to speak to the pair about the jewelry theft but hadn't yet made contact.

Twenty-nine-year-old Randy T. Lamb and 28-year-old Ashley R. Luka died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head Wednesday during a standoff with deputies. Authorities say they'd stolen about $600 from a liquor store a few hours earlier, and eventually killed themselves in their vehicle.

Winnebago County Sheriff's Capt. David Mack says Lamb and Luka were also suspected of stealing jewelry from a town of Vinland home on Tuesday. But the two died before deputies could interview them about that.

UPDATED Thursday, August 29, 2013 --- 4:56 p.m.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities say a man and a woman apparently shot themselves to death during a standoff on a busy highway in Winnebago County.

Oshkosh police identify the two as 29-year-old Randy Lamb and 28-year-old Ashley Luka, both of Neenah.

WLUK-TV reports officials say Lamb matches the description of a man who robbed a liquor store in Vinland earlier Wednesday.

Authorities say the clothes Lamb was wearing and the gun he had match what was seen on surveillance video at the liquor store.

The robbery happened around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. Officers spotted Lamb and Luka speeding away and tried to stop them. That's when the standoff on Highway 41 began.

About 6 p.m. officers heard two gunshots coming from the car. Deputies found the two dead.

No officers fired their weapons.
