UPDATE: Madison Police release surveillance photos in gas station robbery

UPDATED Tuesday, January 14, 2014 --- 4:35 p.m.

Madison Police have released surveillance photos as they search for man who robbed the Capitol Petroleum gas station on N. Sherman Ave. Sunday night.

Anyone recognizing the man depicted is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.

According to the Madison Police Department, a gas station on the north side was held up at gunpoint Sunday night.

It happened at approximately 8 p.m., a 46-year-old gas station clerk
was robbed by a 35- to 40-year-old black man who was believed to be just under 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black jacket, red shirt, jeans and a dark hat, officials said.

The man fled the gas station at 1101 N. Sherman Ave. with money, cigars, cigarettes and the clerk's personal cellphone.
