According to a news release from the Madison Police Department:

Around 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning Madison Police Officers were dispatched to the same residence on the 1500 block of Troy Drive where shots had been fired into a sliding glass door two nights prior. The resident was not home at the time of this morning's call, but a neighbor heard the sound of breaking glass, and called to report a burglary in progress.

The witness saw a man carrying a bag and leaving his neighbor's unoccupied apartment prior to the arrival of officers. The witness was able to provide officers with information about a getaway car, and that information led police to an apartment in the 3700 block of East Karstens Drive. The suspect was located in that apartment and arrested for the burglary that had just occurred. The shooting from July 6 is still under investigation. A .22-calibre shell casing was recovered from that crime scene. Mr. Brown was in possession of a .22-calibre semiautomatic pistol at the time of his arrest.

Suspect: Morris E. Brown, Jr., age 23, Madison
Mr. Brown was arrested and tentatively charged with Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Damage to Property, and a Probation Hold.
