Caledonia Fire Causes Extensive Damage
A fire in the Town of Caledona damages a building, causing an estimated $700,000 in damage.

According to a news release from the Merrimac Fire and Rescue:

The Merrimac Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 12:20 a.m. on July 31 at Glen Valley Lodge, W12012 MacLeish Rd., in the Town of Caledonia. Upon arrival units found the structure fully involved in fire and already collapsing.

The building was unoccupied at the time and no firefighters were injured. Merrimac was assisted at the scene by Baraboo, Portage, and Prairie du Sac fire departments. The building was a complete loss and a cause has not been determined.

The building owner estimated the loss at $700,000.
