In July my son was intentionally struck and killed in a hit and run, and the two boys in the vehicle have not been charged with anything. They even questioned one boy and say they have no reason to arrest him. We need help! They will probably get away with murder. I agree the passenger is responsible too, as he had a cell phone and could call 911 or at least report the crime when he got out of the vehicle.

Anonymous at 7:49am, the police catch drunk drivers every day; just read the news articles on this site and you would know that. What do you expect them to do? Have cops sitting on every single street and road in the entire county, staggered a mile apart maybe, watching for drunk drivers and ignoring all other crime? At some point it becomes citizen's responsibility to follow the law and not drive drunk. There is no way "the state" can see, stop, and arrest every single one of these idiots who have no personal responsibility.

I understand he should have reported it, but that is "failure to report an accident" or "failure to render aid", this doesnt make sense, and to Anon. @ 09:25 AM, yes checking the other guys identification is good police work, charging him for the speeding would be bad policing, what has been done is chargeing both men for "operating a motorvheicle, being involved in a traffic accident, and leaving the scene", unless one was running the pedals and the other steering I still dont get it.

Because both men were in the truck during the hit and run and both left the scene, they are both guilty of the crime. In order for the passeneger to be innocent of the crime, he should have immediately asked to be let out of the vehicle and made an attepmt to contact the police. If the driver would not let him out, the driver would also be detaining the passenger against his will. It was the passengers responsibility to call the police as soon as he was able to do so and report the crime, by failing to do so, he is guilty as an accessory.

That's what it looks like. I know that they pick up people in Monroe all the time for walking home drunk from the bar. He must not have been legally drunk. I personally think that it is good that they pick up drunken pedestrians. It keeps the garbage cans in Monroe in an upright position.

It states they are charged for 2 different things, I believe because the non-driver also did not report the accident, that is why he is charged. He is not charged with operating while intoxicated. They both should be charged as it stated.

If you are speeding and you get pulled over, they will ask for the identification of all passengers in the vehicle. That is how they caught the "uni-bomber." He was not the driver in the suspected vehicles. This is just good police work. Again, we do good police work in Green County!

The point of this is that we catch our criminals in Green County!

Even as a passenger you can be liable for the same crime as the driver? So if I'm speeding and get pulled over, does my passenger get a ticket too? I'm confused too Mike! I hope Joann recovers quickly!

The state has enough time and money to crack down on the great house raffle put on by a non profit organization to quote "protect the citizens of Wisconsin from Fraud", but cant seem to find the time or the funds to protect its citizens from drunk drivers....Thanks Uncle Jim!

A tragic situation, just wondering, we're both men driving, it seems only one truck hit the car, but two are charged

This goes out to all drunk drivers: next time before you decide to drink and drive and almost kill/kill people and put other peoples lives at risk, just put a gun to your head and pull the trigger and do the world a favor. hope this woman makes a good and fast recovery, she is one of the (few) lucky ones.
