From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:

The man has been positively identified as Juan K. Cathey, age 36, from Milwaukee. At this point there is no indication of foul play but the death remains under investigation by the Dane County Coroner’s Office.

From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:

At approximately 10:15am, a caller reported seeing an individual floating off the shoreline of Lake Monona, near Law Park.

Members of the Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Unit and the Dane County Sheriff's Office Marine and Trail Unit responded to find a male submerged, just off the shoreline. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dane County Coroners Office.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing and the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Update from the Capital Times: Although no determination had been made, officials said it appeared to be an accidental drowning.

NBC15 News has confirmed that authorities were called to Lake Monona near the Monona Terrace Convention Center this morning on a report of a body found in the water.

The coroner was called to the scene about 10:30 am..

No other information has been released at this time.
