Tuesday, August 26, 2008 --- 12:40 p.m.

At approximately 8:15 pm on Monday, August 25th, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on STH 138 and Starr School Road in the town of Rutland.

Wendy Sime, age 18 of Stoughton, was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on STH 138. Her 16 year-old brother Ronald L. Sime was a passenger in the vehicle. While Wendy was attempting to make turn south on to Starr School Road, she was rear ended by a Chevy Blazer. Both the driver and passenger of the Chevy Blazer then fled the scene of the crash on foot.

With the assistance of Dane County Deputy Jay O’Neil and K-9 Thor, one of the occupants of the Chevy Blazer, Tyler M. Miller, age 19 of Stoughton, was located in a nearby cornfield. He suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital. The second occupant remains at large.

Wendy and Ronald Sime were both wearing their seatbelts and were transported by Stoughton EMS with non-life threatening injures. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Dane County tip line at 284-6900.

Damien and I went to high school together last year. he's not a bad kid, he just does really stupid things. He and I spent a lot of time together, he really is a smart kid. I miss you Damien!

Ooh- owie! I hope it still hurts, freaking jerks! this is exactly why labor gangs for prisoners should be legalized in Wisconsin! b/c little darlings like this just don't learn any other way about the benefits of honesty, hard work, rewards for a job well done, and being part of a participatory society!

i am the mom of the two teenagers that this damien slammed into at full speed with no signs of breaking. i am disgusted at all of the comments about him and his side kick. they were able to run away with no concern of the well being of others. disoriented...whatever....worthless is the word i might choose. my children could of very easily died in that accident.thankfully they had their seatbelts on and angels on their shoulders. i am the luckiest mom alive today. i didnt have to go to the morgue to find them. again, i think that it is disgusting how people are concerned about these two pieces of trash. who cares. i am sorry, but it repulses me. so many wonderful people stopped to help my kids that night. all these great people make it easier to get thru these days of dealing with the scum that caused this accident.

tylers bud- just b/c you're old enough to go to war doesn't mean you're smart- lots of dumb people, immature people, people without h.s. diplomas, farmers, factory workers, janitors have "died" for this country. perhaps instead of lowering the drinking age, we should raise the draft age instead, just to put that tired old slogan of the immature to bed for the last time! how about this for logic, to use your example- you have to be at least 35 in order to be president of the united states- the commander-in-chief of the military, so until you can make the decisions to send people to their deaths, you're not old enough to drink! b/c when you drink, and you drive, and you kill someone, you have sent them to die, under your directions! so, go grab your buzz lightyear jammies, your winnie the pooh and your warm cup of strawberry qwik, and be a good little boy for the next 17 years!

to tylers bud....a law is a law....just bcs your 'old enough to die for our country' doesn't give u the rite to drink. U break the law you pay the consequences. PERIOD. And by the sounds of it...you paid it fives times...maybe we need to have the three strike rule with underage's....bcs history repeats itself....your an Alcoholic now and when you get older.(meaning 21) you will continue to drink heavily.....when you drive drunk you not only put your live at risk but others on the road as well.

I think they should take these losers down to the morgue, and show them what those three UW students look like after smacking into that tree! ask both those little darlings if they want to end up looking like that due to their stupidity! b/c that'w what can happen when a moving vehicle hits something big and hard= people can die!

Posted by: tyler's bud on Aug 27, 2008 at 09:55 PM
i agree with 1:09 pm. so what tyler has some underagers, i have five and my buddy next to me has six, and we are both respectable humans in society and are old enough to die for our country. besides that, none of you even know the story and insult a disoriented victom of an accident who nerely died and accuse him of neglecting others, get some lives and start being concerned with your own condescending, closeminded, high and mighty in your computer chair asses.

Posted by: Anon on Aug 27, 2008 at 09:49 PM
i know both damien and tyler personally, and all i gotta say is their both going to get what they deserve, and that they were both probably high on something when the got into the accident.

Posted by: anon Location: madison on Aug 27, 2008 at 08:49 PM
I think people who have no idea what happened should just keep their mouths shut & stay out of other peoples business. Kids make mistakes & I am sure there is a lesson to be learned. Damien is a moron & should sit in jail for not only for running but leaving his friend behind in an unknown condition. As for Tyler he did nothing wrong & deserves none of the blame. Before putting blame on someone you don't know & passing judgment take a long look at the mistakes you made when you were 19 years old. I'm sure you were far from perfect too.

Posted by: anona on Aug 27, 2008 at 05:08 PM
Need a better reason to weare seatbelts now?

Posted by: anon on Aug 27, 2008 at 02:27 PM
Damien is just like his father... acorns do't fall far from the tree...

Posted by: Anon Location: Madison on Aug 27, 2008 at 02:06 PM
"yes he made mistakes in high school, who hasn't?" If this is true then all our students are screwups like this guy!!! Sorry but that's not the case. Did he even check on the injuries of the other vehicle? That right there shows this guy cares about nobody but himself. As I look into my crystal ball I see... I see prison in the future.

Posted by: anonymous on Aug 27, 2008 at 01:09 PM
I find it sad as well and Id o feel for the people involved in the accident, I think some of you are taking some of this out of perspective first off Tyler didn't cause the accident, yes he ran but after seeing his condition the other day he didn't know any better, I feel sorry for people who have no better time than to sit there and talk about someone in such a state yes he made mistakes in high school, who hasn't? sad that all's you have to do during the day is look up some kids court profile, and I bet your not being hypocritcal at all right? you never drank 1 sip of alcohol before you were legal? I bet not! I have no idea why thats even being brought up alcohol wasn't a factor, it was the person driving and did something they shouldnt! WOW is all I have to say to some of you people!

Posted by: Melissa Location: Madison on Aug 27, 2008 at 12:03 PM
If you make a mistake, face the consequences. Or be an idiot and run, only to get caught later and be charged further. For anyone who hasn't been caught or charged, Karma is b----.

Posted by: Fred on Aug 27, 2008 at 11:11 AM
He's not a work of art...more like a piece of S---, society is better off without garbage like him and his brother. Lock him up and throw away the key

There is allot of talk these days about how lax we are on drunks. That is because of the beer lobbyist in Madison. Alcohol is BIG MONEY in WI. They should have to pay for alternative entertainment for the youth of today. There is so much money poured into beer advertising that young people can't think of doing anything except drinking. They tell our young people, "If you are a grown up, you drink - period." No other information.

yea these stoughton kids now these days are terrible. the high school i heard it putting in metal detectors or they did already. im sad to say that im from stoughton. i hope that the other people in the accident are ok and well. im srry that they had to go through that. for the 2 boys i could care less if they are seriously injured, if your going to act stupid and be reckless you deserve to get hurt with serious injuries. i hope that they find them. if stoughton police came out there which i dont think they would of, there "stoughton's finest" lol thats a joke they prolly couldnt catch them even if they were on a bike. thats happened before too. my prayers go out to the sime family. get well soon!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 07:18 PM
It was Damien's blazer so I'm assuming HE was the driver, not Tyler.

Posted by: kim Location: stoughton on Aug 26, 2008 at 05:27 PM
Nothing will happen to these guys, they'll get yet another slap on the wrist and go on with their lives. I was hit by a similar 19 yr old, no license, no insurance, driver and he ended up with two citations that totaled under $400.00. My insurance had to pay out over a hundred thousand dollars in medical bills for my injuries. There is no accountability for your actions unless you are a drunk driver in WI. They get all the headlines.

Posted by: Deke Location: Madison on Aug 26, 2008 at 05:22 PM
too bad they didn't let the little darlings come crawling out when they realized their injuries were worse than they thought when they bailed out the truck! Oh well, at least everybody knows where they are right now, now don't they! stupid punks! I hope they throw the book at them! that, on top of their injuries, should be a decent start to the payment due society from their moronic behavior!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Nothing stops a drunk. I know because I have been sober for 8 years. And their "friends" will protect them because if he gets caught, then they are drunks, too.

What do you expect from two Dumb A holers, My advice to two future convicts: you had better hang on to your soap!!!

Posted by: annonymous Location: Town of Ruthland on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:02 PM
It's to bad they have no respect or care for the car they rear ended...But I can tell you the other guy in the car is not dead. I seen him get picked up by another car.. I did call 911 to let them know,to bad thet didn't find him!!!!!Don't care how injured he is.. Hope the Simes are doing o.k. Hope you get this guy......

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 03:01 PM
hahahaha that was fast.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 02:40 PM
He is probably dead somewhere in the marsh down there.

Posted by: amazed Location: dane county on Aug 26, 2008 at 02:06 PM
At one point in time people were taught it was important to be accountable for their actions. Now, well, we get idiots like this Tyler Miller and his partner in crime.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:39 PM
you would think they would have a name of the other person since i'm sure this guy didn't let a stranger into his vehicle...

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Anon 1:02, his body was probably in shock at first, so he didnt realize the extent of his injuries right away, coulda been bleeding internally, etc. But I agree, it is odd his injuries were severe enough for medflight.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:19 PM
My father had a friend that was in a sever accident on the beltline many years ago. He fled the scene do to the fact he did not have a current drivers lic. Police found him at a friends apartment two hours later with a broken neck. It all depends how bad you want to get away from the cops.

Posted by: Lease on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:11 PM
He must have been hurt worse then he thought he was and didnt make it very far. Its sad that people are so afraid that they are going to get in trouble that they would rather run from it rather then ensure the people they hit are ok.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 26, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Um ok. How did he run off if he had bad enough injuries to need med flight?
