A Grant County man is dead after falling into a lake in Iowa.

Officials in Iowa say William Timmerman, 71, of Cuba City died yesterday afternoon.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office says Timmerman fell out of a fishing boat just before 4 p.m. on Diamond Lake near Montezuma, which is about 50 miles east of Des Moines.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

Timmerman was pronounced dead at the hospital where he was taken after falling into the lake.

The incident is still under investigation.
