UPDATE: 3 killed in Oneida crash identified

UPDATED Wednesday, January 15, 2014 --- 9:04 a.m.

TOWN OF CASSIAN, Wis. (AP) -- The three people who died in a collision between a propane tanker truck and a car in Oneida County have been identified.

Sheriff's officials say the driver of the car lost control while it was snowing and slid into the path of the semi on Highway 51 west of Rhinelander in the Town of Cassian Tuesday afternoon.

The two occupants of the car and the only occupant of the semi were pronounced dead at the scene. Twenty-two-year-old Justine Ringberg, of Bayfield, and 22-year-old Raquel Nunez of New York, N.Y. were in the car. The driver of the tanker was 22-year-old Jeremy Ritchie of Minocqua.

The sheriff's department is continuing its investigation.

TOWN OF CASSIAN, Wis. (AP) -- Three people are dead after a collision between a car and a propane tanker in northern Wisconsin.

The Oneida County sheriff's office got a 911 call about the crash in the Town of Cassian around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff's Lt. Dan Hess says there were people killed in both vehicles. It's unknown if anyone is hospitalized.

Hess says it's been snowing but it's not known if the weather was a factor in the crash.

A county hazmat crew was sent to the scene.

Names of the victims have not been released.
