From the Janesville Gazette:

JANESVILLE — A verbal exchange over driving skills resulted in a stabbing outside a Janesville fast food restaurant Saturday.

At 8:24 p.m., Janesville police responded to the parking lot of Subway restaurant, 1929 Center Ave, Janesville.

The 27-year-old victim was inside the restaurant when Jacob E. Pope, 23, of 2623 Vail Court, No. 7, Janesville, pulled into the parking lot. When the victim left the restaurant, he made a comment to Pope about his driving. The two got into a heated exchange that ended when Pope stabbed the man in the neck, according to police reports.

Pope left, drove to an address on Kellogg Avenue, changed cars and then drove to his former address at 1632 Willard St., Janesville, where he was arrested, according to police reports.

The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital for a cut to his neck. He was treated and later released.

Police obtained a search warrant to look for the weapon in the Willard Street house and in Pope’s car.

A weapon was found but police couldn’t confirm that it was the weapon that was used in the incident.

After interviewing witnesses, police arrested Pope on charges of first-degree reckless injury and a probation hold.

Pope was being held at the Rock County Jail this morning until his first court appearance.

Sounds like Pope not only doesn't drive very good nor can he control his childish temper. Obviously, he thinks being aggressive will solve all of his problems. What a moron.

christina, just because the victim is ok, we should just be silent? Wow, what a dumb statement! It's bleeding heart liberals, such as yourself, that gives these creeps way too many chances. So when do YOU think we should be outraged? When he commits murder? Yeah, jake is a real good guy alright! He's a habitual criminal and needs to spend some time behind bars and then get help for his anger issues!

Yeah, the first bad choice was to be carrying a knife and then using the knife- not in self-defense, but to express anger. Yes, we all make bad choices, but from records it sounds like he's made more than a couple. How many changes do we give a person before we realize their are serious issues that need to be addressed?

I worked at the Rock County Jail 3 years ago. He was in there then. They have to put him in prison for life and throw away the key.

Good catch! Send him straight to jail.

No doubt. To get into an argument with someone you don't know and then out of no where STAB them in the neck?! Should not be reckless injury should be first degree attempted murder.

Hey Mr Pope your driving skills suck! Get over it sunshine. I would think the fact that you dont have a college education or a job would be higher priority then your lack of driving skills. Must be why your on probation cause your priorities are screwed up.
