Why can't you go out at night and be safe. Why do you have to always think of locking doors, turning on lights. Use common sense, yes, but you shouldn't have to live with fear all the time. Why are people so sick.

to do list: use common sense, know where the trouble spots are (allied drive after midnite alone? duh!) and take precautions, be aware of your surroundings, and be prepared- pepper spray is free, stun guns, wands, probes, pens are sold (although not legal in WI, but do you think a crook is going to call a cop to report you juiced his ass?) and most of all, of all the suggestions on this page I like- we need to rename Madison "Aisle 3A" because this is where Wisconsin keeps all its douche bags, I mean politicians and lawmakers, who wouldn't know how to get a clue if it fell on them like wet oatmeal!

Unstable economy my foot! Crooks will be crooks regardless of the economy. When you stop blaming the crooks and blame something else instead, you give them power. "laughable" is right. Use some common sense, and take some personal responsibility.

You people make me laugh with your commentary on how unsafe Madison is. You are extremely out of touch if you believe that this city is anything like Milwaukee or Detroit. Madison is as safe as YOU make it. Lock your doors, don't walk alone in high crime areas, put motion lights on your house... Don't generalize your misperceptions on an entire community that is extremely safe compared to other urban environments of similar size. Most of all, GET A GRIP!

J is right, Another day another Robbery, And the Thiefs are getting more bold , I never thought to have a gun in my home, but it seems individuals have to protect them selves , especially since Police can,t be every where

Face it... Madison is turning into a VERY unsafe place to raise kids. Why don't we start calling it Milwaukee JR. Cuz thats what its soon gonna be like

it is the unstable econamy that is causing all if this coas. The job market sucks which leads them to crime. Crime leads to them robbing people on bike paths and so forth. Its crazy I tell ya!

Much as I would like to think we could walk when and where we want without some predatory thief stalking us like sheep, I know better. I sure wouldn't walk after dark, alone and unarmed, near Allied Drive.

What the hell was this guy doing walking around by himself at midnight near allied drive? Come on man..Use some common sense. With all the robberies, burglaries, muggings, etc. going on in this town lately you need to use your damn head!! And to be near allied drive at that. I do not feel bad for this FOOL one bit. Don't put yourself in that situation people!!

Boy this seems like a common thing lately. Can't log on here without reading about someone being robbed, mugged, stabbed whatever. Madison is no longer safe, and it sucks.
