Jeri, I'll get you started on getting your emergency services from someone other than 911. JBM Patrol and Protection: 712-7156. Ryan Brothers Ambulance: 257-9591. Can't find any private fire departments for you though. As for it having been "proven" that 911 doesn't get you ANY type of police reponse, what are the police doing 24/7 then? Really, I want to know what you think they're doing. All traffic stops? Driving around finding crime? Yeah right. I'm glad to know they won't ever be helping you though.

The right to carry a gun is as much a solution as learning self defense, going out in groups, and being vigilant. Don't fear an honest person with a gun. Fear the crook who knows there is no gun.

Mase works just fine. The cowboy mentallity is barbaric. Half of you would be shooting at your own shadows.

Jeri -- I think you're trying to help, so I don't mean this in a mean way.... Your solution is terrible. It's really, really stupid.

Its really sad that you can't be outdoors anymore without always looking over your shoulder. Its not going to get any better, so we either go out and live with fear all the time or live like hermits. To carry a gun is really not a solution, but if you have to use it, use it.

It may be easier and safer to buy a treadmill, but if we are willing to give up freedom for our safety, we don't deserve either and will probably lose both. Benjamin Franklin is a timeless genius.

I realize she was probably in shock at the time, but once let go, since she already had her running shoes on, she should have tried to follow at a distance where he went - and then went and got a gun... And before you say she should have contacted the authorities immediately, just realize that dialing 911 has already been proven to not get any type of police response in Madison! It's time to take back the streets -Freakfest should only be one night a year in Madison, Not Every Day!

Rather than running with a handgun/holster, it may be easier and safer to just buy a treadmill. It's getting cold out anyways.

With the right handgun/holster combination, and training and practice, it wouldn't be awkward. And convenience for the sake of safety really isn't convenient at all when one of these predators comes to call. Barry is right, and it does the same for men.

LOL@Jim....thats an accident waiting to happen! I run and walk frequently and while I do not go armed with a gun, I do have something along to defend myself with if confronted and I just wait for one of these "wack jobs" to try and attack myself or my kids.

Who is going to go for a run with with their gun? Wouldn't that be a bit awkward?

Dane County was already dangerous ten years ago and it just keeps getting worse. Concealed carry protects, empowers, and liberates women.

guess people cant run with ipods anymore or they wont be fully aware of their surroundings.... gotta hear every wack job out there

What time of day did this happen? I can't believe no one would have seen this. It seems like she might be lying. If it did happen I am willing to bet the perp lives nearby.

I like your thinking, Brenda!!

Posted by: amazed Location: dane county on Nov 17, 2008 at 12:04 PM
That poor young lady! I hope the guy who did this gets his eyes gouged out.

Posted by: Brenda on Nov 17, 2008 at 11:41 AM
This is beyond a daily occurrance anymore. Time for conceal/carry! And go buy loud horns, mace and anything else you can think of.. At least they would be (hopefully) seeking medical attention!! This way, they are busted.

This world is a sick place!! A person can't even go jogging without having some wacko doing something to them!!
