UPDATED Saturday, January 3, 2009 --- 12:15 p.m.

MUSCODA, Wis. (AP) — The Grant County sheriff says a rural house fire that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman was intentionally set by her husband.

Sheriff Keith Govier says the body of Sheron Eggert was found about four hours after the fire was put out Dec. 27. Her husband Arthur Eggert died five days later, on Thursday.

Govier says the husband admitted setting the fire at the Muscoda home and provided enough details to back up physical evidence before he died.
