Excerpt from Forbes.com: Having trouble finding a job in, say, New York City or South Florida? You might give Madison, Wis., a try. It's got an unusually healthy outlook for job growth and a strikingly low unemployment rate--3.5% in October, when the national rate was 6.5%. That's why Madison tops Ajilon Professional Staffing's list of top 10 cities to find a job.

Another excerpt from Forbes.com: Madison has several things going for it. Not only is the University of Wisconsin a major employer, but the university's research arm, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, has been fueling growth in the biotech, health care and medical-devices industries. The foundation provides grants and helps scientists affiliated with the university to patent new discoveries. It has aided Madison in becoming a regional hub for those industries.

Cities also on the list:
Washington DC
Boston
Richmond
Milwaukee
Pittsburgh
Baltimore
Seattle
Houston
Dallas

Anonymous On Jan 6, you really need to go out there and apply yourself which i doubt you are doing, there are no jobs in madison unless you are affiliated with the UW or another HUGE co which there arent many, they are packing up and leaving because its too expensive for them to survive in wi and lets face it the ave person cant live on $10 an hr in madison nowdays, Madison isnt like it was in the 1950s, its overpriced and drying up and befor ya know it madison will be gone all together, wake up and smell the coffee

That's joke. Once, you've exhausted your unemployment claim, you don't count. This is why the rate was lower. What a way to manipulate the numbers.
