Fatal Crash in Jefferson County
One man dies after head-on collision on Hwy 26.

Release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office:

On 01/17/09 at 11:05 am Jefferson County dispatchers were notified of a head-on crash on Hwy 26 South of Turf Drive, Town of Watertown.

Jefferson County units, along with units from WI State Patrol, Johnson Creek PD, Watertown EMS, Watertown Fire, and Johnson Creek EMS, respondeed to the scene.

Vehicle #1, Red 1999 Dodge Ram Pick-up driven by a male subject from Ixonia, WI, was Southbound on Hwy 26.

Vehicle #2, Silver Chrysler 2 door driven by a male suject from Davis Junction, IL, was Northbound on Hwy 26.

Driver of vehicle #1 lost control and slid into the path of vehicle #2. Both drivers and the other occupant of each vehicle were transported to Watertown Hospital.

Driver of vehicle #2 was later pronounced deceased at Watertown Hospital.

Names are not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The accident remains under investigation.

Jon- What about my comment was so outlandish that you had to reply with that? It's a fact that this stretch of road is dangerous. And forgive me for offering a grieving family my condolences that just lost a loved one. There was nothing out of line by my comment at all and can see how ignorant and uncaring you are if you have to call me out for that. Stef- You and your family will be in my thoughts. I've traveled this road and know how dangerous it is. I think the state should look at the amount of accidents on that road and realize something needs to be done. Your uncle sounds like a wonderful man and I for one will keep your family in my thoughts.
