Even if you don't have the money to buy a new house right now, that doesn't mean you can't have one. In fact, a man in Cassville would love to give you one of his.

"I guess I was surprised but that's a good way to start the ball rolling," said Cassville resident Pat Friesen.

"I hadn't heard about it before you came in," stated Bob Vogt, a bar owner in the city. "I didn't know he was going to give them away certainly I knew he had them for sale."

"I wish him luck. I guess," added Friesen.

How would you like to own a house for 100 dollars? And all you have to do is write an essay on why you deserve it.

A few years ago, Luke Ploessl and his wife began to invest in real estate in the City of Cassville. But with the current situation on Wall Street, they can no longer afford to keep all their properties. They tried to sell them, but no buyers emerged. So they are giving six of them away to the people who write the best essays.

Said Ploessl, "It can be humorous. It can be fictional, non-fiction. It can be dead serious, inspirational, anything that will catch and hold their attention."

Ploessl will give one house away for every 1,500 essays entered. Three business owners from the area with judge them. And don't bother looking for strings. There are none attached.

"Once the deal is finalized it is completely up to them for what they want to do with it," stated Ploessl. "You have a chance to change your life and win a house for 100 dollars."

Again, it costs $100 to enter and the essays have to be fewer than 200 words.

Here is my only concern and I noticed nothing has been mentioned. Say I win a home, will I owe a Gaming tax,Lottery tax, whatever it is called, do I pay a winning tax? Like 17-23% as in other winnings, anything of value over 600.00. So you are putting a value of 150.00.

I completely understand why he is doing this. The economy is not great right now. Cassville is a small town and most people there have to drive a great distance to go to work. It makes the real estate market harder than it already is everywhere else. This is a voluntary contest, so I do not know why anyone is complaining. If you do not like it do not enter. I entered immediately after finding out about. I love Cassville, I want to move there eventually anyway so I figured it was a great opportunity to enter. I try to go there every weekend during the summer. The people there are great. The contest is a great idea, and these types of contest are done everyday. It makes it even better that they are donating money to charities, especially the school they need it. Good Luck.

after doing some research on Cassville I like what I see! and it seems there are more job oppurtunities arising all the time , IBM coming to a nearby town 1,500 jobs. a new woodburning "green"plant being converted. Since getting out of the service 5 years ago I bounced around looking for a nice place to call home. Realizing what it would mean to never have a mortgage, This is a perfesct oppurtunity!
