On Saturday 02-28-09 @ approximately 12:25AM Dodge Co. Deputy’s were dispatched to W2287 Pond Road in the Township of Rubicon reference a shots fired complaint. Upon arrival deputies spoke to several people and observed numerous articles of drug paraphernalia and a disassembled shotgun underneath a couch.
Deputy’s the contacted the District Attorney’s Office reference obtaining a search warrant for the residence. DA Bill Bedker prepared the warrant and it was granted by Judge John Storck. That warrant was executed at 3:36 a.m. and authorities uncovered several more items of drug paraphernalia and an indoor marijuana grow operation consisting of 25 plants.
Authorities spent ten hour sat the scene collecting evidence that resulted in the arrests of three individuals. Steven J, Riddle, 23 and Matthew Gillig, 29 were arrested on suspicion of Manufacturing of Marijuana, Maintaining a Drug House, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Andrea R. Schmidt, 21 was arrested for Possession of Cocaine. Once in the jail, further search of Schmidt’s purse produced drug paraphernalia and a baggie of marijuana. She was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
“I appreciate DA Bedker and his willingness to assist us all hours, day and night. It seems that recently, everything is happening overnight and on weekends. The DA’s Office has always been very receptive and their cooperation is appreciated,” stated Sheriff Todd Nehls.
