The Grant County Sheriff's Department has released the names of the two people killed when their mobile home caught fire Monday morning.

57-year old David Shinn and 55-year old Joyce Shinn were victims of the fire.

The cause of the fire was determined to be consistent with a space heater igniting surrounding material.

The fire spread to an unoccupied mobile home on the south side of the mobile home and damaged the siding of another mobile home, as well.

Fire departments were able to extinguish the fire within an hour and it was at that time the bodies of the victims were located inside the home.

The State Fire Marshall assisted the Bagley Fire Department and Grant County Sheriff's Department with the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Two people in western Grant County are dead after an early morning blaze.

Bagley is small town of about 300 people.

So the news of two of its residents dying in a fire hits everyone hard.

"They were well liked people. They talked. They were decent people."

Todd Haberichter lives directly behind 5 Jackley Lane in the Village of Bagley.

" I only live like 40-feet, 50-feet from where the blaze was."

Haberichter says what happened is tragic.

"It's a shame. It's a sad shame. "

But he thinks it could have been much worse considering what separates his house from the one that claimed the lives of two people early Monday morning.

"There was a 1,000 gallon propane tank like 30-feet behind the trailer."

Haberichter wasn't the only one who saw the destructive force of the fire.

" I thought I was going to see the fire trucks get started up. Instead I saw the big huge blaze. Like orange over the top of the buildings."

Caleb Klais lives about a block away on the main drag in Bagley.

He says he was heading to bed at about four when he noticed the fire.

"Obviously it was a large fire. It took some time. It's too bad it had to do so much damage. It's a tragedy to this small community," says Captain Anthony Sheckles with the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

According to the Grant County Sheriff's Department the fire started at this center structure right here.

It's obviously a total loss.

But it then spread to adjacent structures.

If you look over here the fire was so intense and so hot it actually began to melt the siding on this home.

"It's been burning a little bit on and off all day. We actually had the fire pumper here twice after we thought we had it out," says Captain Sheckels.

Officials aren't releasing the names of the victims yet.

That's because they are still trying to notify their families.

They are also still trying to determine what started the blaze.

I know times are tough right now with the economy, but its alot more costly to pay for a funeral than smoke detectors! Everyone should have them in their homes!
