We have a warning for parents tonight about drugs meant for cows being taken by teens for abortions.
The claims come from the director of a Green County Pregnancy Center who says she just wants kids to be safe.
But not everyone is believing it.
For Anna Anderson the words were almost hard to believe.
A teenage girl looked her in the eye and said she took a drug meant to be injected into a cow and drank it to end her unwanted pregnancy.
Anderson says, "It was shocking and it's very scary to me because this is life threatening to these girls."
Anderson says dating back to last summer she knows of 10 girls, age 14 to 18 in the Green County area who have taken some form of prostaglandins to perform their own abortion.
The drugs are only available to farmers by prescription only and are used to regulate the heat cycles of breeding livestock but the girls tell Anderson they get it from friends who live or work on farms.
She says several of the girls attend Monroe High School.
Anderson says, "All any of them seem to know about it is if you take it, you're going to have an abortion because it's worked for their friends."
What she says they don't know are the dangers including excessive hemorrhaging and infection that could lead to death.
For their part, staff at Monroe High School say they've investigated the claims and so far found no evidence of any of their students taking this drug.
Director of Pupil Services Joe Monroe says they have a staff that is very well connected to these students and they say they've gone as far as asking students in different social groups if they've ever heard of anyone taking the drug. The answer every time is the same, no.
The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association is skeptical as well.
They say they're taking the allegations seriously and working with public health and the high school but so far have no reason to believe the allegations are true.
They're allegations Anderson is standing by.
She says her fear is that a teen will die because of this.
Anderson says she doesn't think others have found evidence because the girls are lying to school officials and family members, and many wouldn't tell the truth if they did go to a clinic or hospital with complications.

Please, I am neither for nor against abortion as a whole. All I was pointing out was all the pro-lifer's wanting to ban abortions will lead to things like this happening more and more. History has proven that, when it was against the law. And if you for one minute think that "talking" to your children will solve all problems.... Think again! Kids will do whatever they feel like doing no matter what their parents tell them. They will continue to have unprotected sex and when facing the choice of having a child (right or wrong) and deciding not to, where or what do you think they will resort to in order to get rid of the "problem"? So keep thinking that talking to your children will solve all the problems that face young adults today and let me know how that goes. We all know that communication is key, but not always the ONLY solution.
This is nothing new. Sorry to break it to you, but girls have been doing this for years already. Anyone familiar with animal science/dairy science would know the effects this would have on the girls. Obviously none of the girls/students are going to claim is really going on-- they are scared-- they ended their pregnancy for a reason, so no one would find out. Do you think they are going to openly discuss it now?! No.
Please keep in mind the Monroe School District and the Green County Health Department have not verified these incidences as truly happening yet. So, it doesn’t appear, at this point, that there’s still much more to report than that the claims have been made and officials are checking into their validity.
