From Lafayette County Sheriff's Department:
At approximately 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009 a traffic crash with injuries was reported to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.
The crash was reported to be on Spore Rd. about 1 mile west of STH 78 south of Argyle. This is in Argyle Township.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that a 2007 Toyota Corolla was being driven eastbound on Spore Rd by Zachary W. Jenkins, age 21, of Argyle, Wisconsin. Jenkins crested a hill and failed to negotiate a curve to the left. Jenkins then lost control of the vehicle and entered the north ditchline and struck a tree.
Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Virginia Douglas.
Jenkins was not wearing a seat belt and the crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office and the Coroners Office. Assisting at the scene was Argyle Fire and EMS.
This is Lafayette County's second traffic fatality of 2009.
