FOX LAKE, Wis. (AP) -- An attempt to arrest a Fox Lake man for failing to pay child support resulted in a seven-hour standoff that ended early Friday.
Dodge County sheriff's officials say the man attacked the arresting officer with a push lawn mower about 6 p.m. Thursday. The two struggled and the man's female friend joined the scuffle. That's when the man armed himself with a rifle and barricaded himself in his house.
SWAT officers arrived, some neighbors were evacuated and Highway 33 was detoured.
After lengthy negotiations and dozens of rounds of gas being fired into the home, the man was arrested about 1 a.m.

Right now police in Dodge County are at the scene of what they're calling a "tactical situation."
The situation is happening near the intersection of Center and State Streets in Fox Lake.
A Fox Lake police officer was trying to pick up a male suspect from the home to issue a warrant out of Washington County for "non-support," which police say could be related to a child support problem. The suspect then put up a struggle with the officer and displayed a long-barreled gun.
The officer called for support and tactical teams arrived at the scene as the suspect barricaded himself inside the house.
A second round of tear gas was dispensed towards the home while our crew was at the scene. They make a noise similar to gunshot, but officials confirm that the sounds are tear gas and not gunshots.
Our crew at the scene says Fox Lake Police and the Dodge County Sheriff's Office called just before 11 p.m. for Green Lake officials to deliver more tear gas to the scene.
