MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee's police chief says the man who shot and wounded two officers after they stopped him on his bike matched the description of a person involved in some muggings in the area.
Chief Edward Flynn said Wednesday the officers were patting the man down when he pulled a gun and began firing. Flynn says the two officers didn't even have time to draw their weapons.
The chief tells WTMJ radio that the 18-year-old man fit the general description of a suspected mugger and was acting suspiciously.
The wounded officers have been identified as 26-year-old Graham Kunisch, who's hospitalized in critical condition and 21-year-old Bryan Norberg, who's in satisfactory condition. Both are at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital.
The suspect was arrested at a house in the area within an hour Tuesday afternoon. Police say they recovered a weapon.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say the two officers shot multiple times by a bicyclist are expected to survive.
Police Chief Edward Flynn says he's grateful for the community support after the officers were shot Tuesday afternoon.
Flynn says 26-year-old officer Graham Kunisch is in critical condition, and 21-year-old Bryan Norberg is in satisfactory condition.
The chief says the officers stopped the bicyclist because he looked suspicious, and the 18-year-old man responded by shooting them before they had time to react.
Flynn says the man was arrested within an hour and his gun was recovered. He says the man has a previous arrest record.
Flynn lauded a cab driver who came to the officers' aid, and a UPS driver who tried to follow the suspect.
