UPDATED Sunday, June 14, 2009 --- 9:24 p.m.
The state patrol says one of those crashes involved three cars heading eastbound.
Two vehicles were slowing down for a crash across the median in the westbound lanes when 47-year-old Karl Gallagher of Genoa, Ill., hit one of the cars and caused the crash.
A 7-year-old passenger in Gallagher's vehicle had non-life threatening injuries.
We're still waiting on information for the other crashes that happened in that area around the same time.

Dane County dispatchers say three crashes about an hour ago called for Med Flight and a number of ambulances.
The interstate is shut down both east and westbound near the Highway 51 exit for Stoughton -- that's to allow a landing zone for Med Flight.
The state patrol says at least one of these crashes has injuries reported.
We'll have the very latest on these crashes on NBC15 News at 10.

D: Still waiting for your response to the post about getting patients quickly to the operating table so that their lives are saved. You never seem to be able to comment on that little fact, you just ignore it.

D - I think I would rather have to worry about a law suit, than to face having lost a loved one, because Medflight wasn't called. You can refuse treatment, when the EMT's respond to your accident though, if you feel you don't need it. Even people with insurance have to pay medical bills. No one has insurance that covers 100% of everything, believe me. And many people have to buy their own insurance; my family does, as we own our own business; & that is far from cheap! Yes, we survived without medflight before, you are right. But many people did not survive without it! I know people who have lost loved ones, because they couldn't get them to the hospital soon enough. And they all say that they would pay anything to have them back again; even if they had to pay for the rest of their lives. So I guess we each have to make our own choices. I am willing to bet at least 80% of the population would say they would pay for medflight, to save their lives though.
