Incident report from Madison Police Department:
On Sunday night, around 8:37 p.m., Madison Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment in the 1500 block of Trailsway.
A resident - Susanne M. Burgaz, age 46 - had called for help, claiming a male friend had stabbed "Shep" - her 3-month old German Shepard puppy.
The investigation led officers to determine it was actually Burgaz who had used a knife to cut "Shep's" neck. Officers found a dog bed, saturated in blood, inside a crate. The bleeding puppy was running in the hallway.
One officer drove the dog to an emergency animal clinic, while a second officer held "Shep" in the back of the squad car.
Burgaz told police that the dog had been yelping and barking. She said after "Shep" was stabbed, she attempted to help the puppy by pouring iodine on the wound. She tried to close it with super glue. Ms. Burgaz also told officers that "Shep" is a service dog, and that she self trained the puppy herself after getting the animal from a shelter about six- weeks ago.
Officers left "Shep" in the care of a veterinarian at the emergency animal clinic.

Ms. Burgaz was arrested for Mistreatment of Animal.

Hate what this woman did, hope she pays the price she deserves and gets the help she really needs. We don't need new laws, we need to provide proper and adequate punishment for the laws already broken.
