From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:

Madison, WI. June 22, 2009 – At approximately 10:45 am, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 51 near CTH B in the town of Pleasant Springs.

Rodney Lemon, age 20 of Stoughton, was driving his Ford Explorer northbound on Highway 51. He briefly turned toward the backseat of the vehicle to tend to his 2-year-old child, and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over approximately 4-5 times, ejecting the child who was found by his father standing in the road.

Both father and son miraculously only received minor injuries in the crash. They were both transported to UW Hospital by Stoughton EMS, where the child was admitted for observation.

A preliminary investigation indicates that although the child was buckled into a car seat, the car seat may have not been properly installed.

Lemon will be cited for Operating While Suspended, Causing Injury While Suspended, and Failure to Maintain Control. The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and additional citations may be issued.

nn, accidents can be avoided by being very careful. We have so many ways to get this information. The internet is a wonderful tool. Ignorance should not be an excuse. People need to slow down and take the time needed to do things right. Especially if it involves the safety of their children.

It could have been an accident that the carseat wasn't in properly. Some parents don't realize that is an issue..some never go to those free car seat checks, either. Sad - yes, but don't hate if it's an accident

So thankful the little boy is all right? Where are all the haters on seatbelt usage? There are 100 comments on the family from Iowa about seatbelts and this boy wasn't properly restrained and no comments are made. Doesn't make sense to me!
