Anonymous at 1:15 AM- While I agree with most of your post, would you have compassion if that was your family traveling in that pickup truck? Would you have compassion for her if she had hit you instead of them? Your right, there will always be drivers that do not care. But having a bad day does not constitute people putting everyone else's lives in danger. The people in the pickup truck from Sterling were minding their own business and now that female passenger's life in in jeopardy. I definitely keep witnesses and emergency personnel in my thoughts as I can't imagine having to witness these things. But most of all, I wish people would get some common sense and NOT drive after drinking. While I feel compassion for the woman's family who was killed, I'm thankful that it's not the innocent couple this time around.

I agree with anonymous that Wisconsin needs to wake up and deal with its problem of drunk driving. Stronger legislation is part of the answer, but the complete resolution lies in changing the attitude of the people of Wisconsin towards the consumption of alcohol. Wisconsin is ranked top in the nation for alcohol consumption and is the leader for fatal collisions caused by underage drinkers. On the average, Friday through Sunday in Wisconsin 1 out of 3 drivers on the road are under the influence. Wake up Wisconsin. Too many innocent people are killed by drivers under the influence. It could be you, your parent, your child or your friend. Don't be afraid to stop or report a drunk driver. The life you save may be yours.
