UPDATE: Beloit Homicide
Police find two people shot in a car; 1 victim pronounced dead at the hospital. UPDATE: Police release names of victims.

Release from Beloit Police Department:
The victims from this morning’s shooting investigation have been identified as:
David Deangelo Davis, 30 - Deceased
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Davis died as a result of injuries sustained from the shooting. Immediate family have been notified of his death.
Anthony T. Gibson, 24
Gibson remains hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.
Both victims have been recently been staying in Beloit, but are originally from the Chicago Metro area.
Police investigators have determined the location of where the shooting is believed to have occurred. The investigation remains active.

Release from Beloit Police Department
On 06/28/2009 at approximately 0330 hours, a Beloit Police Officer on patrol discovered a vehicle crash near the intersection of Woodward and White Avenue (HWY 81). Upon checking the vehicle, the officer discovered two adult victims in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the victims had been shot.
Beloit Fire Department personnel were called to the scene and rendered assistance to the victims. Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment. A 30 year old victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 25 year old victim is being treated at an area hospital. The 25 year old victim's condition has been listed as serious, but stable. No names are being released at this time.
Department investigators and evidence technicians were called to the scene to collect evidence. They remain on the scene at this time conducting the on-scene investigation. This is the second homicide in the city this year.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on White Avenue (HWY 81) and crashed near Woodward Avenue.
An forensic autopsy is set for noon today in Madison, WI. The Rock County Coroner's Office is assisting in the investigation.
Traffic on White Avenue (HWY 81) was restricted between Hwy 51 (Riverside Drive) and Park Avenue until the on-scene investigation had been completed.
