According to the Village of Palmyra Interim Public Safety Director, Jerry Schuetz, a 5-year-old was playing near the road on the 300 block of Jefferson Street when they were hit by a car entering a private driveway around 6 p.m.
An EMS crew responded to a call from the Village of Palmyra Fire Station just around the corner from the incident. That's where the child's mother took them after it happened.
The child was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Initial reports do not indicate that speed, negligence, or alcohol were factors in the incident.
