Press Release from Richland County Sheriff's Department:
Submitted by Chief Deputy Tom Hougan

A farming accident claimed the life of a 6-year-old child in Bloom Township late Saturday (July 18) afternoon shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher received a call for an ambulance at 5:37 p.m. reporting a “skid steer” accident. Viola Ambulance and Fire Department were sent to the scene. A helicopter from LaCrosse Med Link was also dispatched to the scene on Junlyn Lane off of State Hwy 56.

According to a report at the sheriff’s department, Tristen M. Cornell, 6, was struck by a “skid steer” as it was backing up.

The report said that the operator of the equipment could not see the child who had moved behind the skid steer as the operator was going forward. When the operator backed up the child was struck.

Michael, your full of it. Every single person in here has said at one time or another that we are grieving for that boy. Our sympathies ARE with him. We just don't feel, as Christina said, that the driver should be charged for murder. Maybe if you had read all of the posts you would get that, or were you not using your brain either? Every single person is sad for the child, that's WHY everyone is so mad at Christina. She isn't focusing on the child AT ALL. Get a clue!

First off, why do I get the feeling Michael and Christina know each other? Secondly, how are we supposed to give "Empathy" for the child when the child is no longer with us? Do you think the child would get some kind of satisfaction from knowing the driver was punished in some way after all the guilt they are feeling already? I mean really, if something tragic happened to you like this, would you feel better yourself somehow knowing more grief was to become of it? Give me a break.....Chistina and Michael if you really feel this way over this accident, then you should be chair heading up a drive to get all those repeat DWI offenders off the road, whereas they KNOW they are taking a chance with someone elses life that they can even see!
