Release from Rock County Sheriff's Department:

On 07/23/09 approximately 8:00pm, Rock County deputies, Janesville Fire Department and Janesville Police Department responded to a four vehicle crash on south USH 51 near Happy Hollow Rd., in Rock Township.

The investigation revealed a Pontiac Grand Am was traveling north on USH 51 and veered into the oncoming southbound lanes of traffic. The Pontiac Grand Am struck a southbound BMW sedan driven by Sandra D. Williams, 36, of Arena, WI. After striking the Grand Am, the BMW traveled into the northbound lane striking a semi tractor-trailer, driven by Andrew W. Carlson, 63, of Almond, WI. Carlson was uninjured in crash.

Williams and an 11-year-old passenger were transported to Janesville Mercy for minor injuries sustained in crash. Williams and passenger were later released from Mercy.

A fourth vehicle, a 1984 American General owned by Klondike Distributing and driven by Ronald F. Krueger of Kenosha was damaged by flying debris as it drove in the vicinity of the crash.

Three of the four occupants of the Pontiac Grand Am fled on foot prior to law enforcement arriving. An investigation will continue until the driver and occupants can formally be identified and questioned. Alcohol and reckless driving are factors in the crash.
