UPDATE: Friday Night Fire in Baraboo
One person is injured after a fire at the America's Best Value Inn in Baraboo. UPDATE: Cause of fire determined.

From the Baraboo Fire Department / Sauk County Sheriff's Department:

The Sauk County Sheriff's Department and the Baraboo Fire Department have completed the investigation into the fire that heavily damaged a two family dwelling at 750 West Pine Street in the Village of West Baraboo on Friday, August 21, 2009.

As a result of the investigation it was determined that a male juvenile used a lighter to start the sheet covering a mattress on fire in a bedroom in Unit #310.

The male juvenile was not injured, however a person who was also in the residence at the time of the fire received a burn to his hand.

From the Baraboo Fire Department:

At 7:08 p.m. (Friday, August 21, 2009) Baraboo Fire Department was dispatched to America's Best Value Inn at 750 W. Pine Street, West Baraboo for a structure fire in unit 310 with flames showing.

Upon arrival of the first fire department Engine, a smaller separate building from the hotel was heavily involved in fire. This was later confirmed as a two unit dwelling.

Personnel from the first arriving Engine quickly extinguished the main body of fire. Other responding apparatus and personnel assisted in final extinguishment.

The building sustained major fire, heat, smoke and water damage. Two families were displaced from this building.

The building is owned by Harikrishna Property Inc. of 750 West Pine Street in West Baraboo.

The fire is under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Department and the Baraboo Fire Department.

There was one adult injured that received minor injuries in the fire and no firefighter injuries.

The Baraboo Fire Department responded with two Engine Companies, one Ladder Company and one Heavy rescue with 25 personnel to this incident.

The Baraboo Fire Department was further assisted at the scene by Baraboo District Ambulance Service, Sauk County Sheriff's Department, Baraboo Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol. North Freedom Fire Department responded with one Engine Company to the scene. Sauk City Fire Department responded with one Engine Company to the Baraboo Fire Station for coverage. Lake Delton and Reedsburg Fire Departments were called for mutual aid, but were cancelled when the exact size and extent of the fire was confirmed.

The Sauk County Chapter of the Salvation Army assisted the two displaced families.
