Press Release:
The resurfacing of US 14 between Cross Plains and Mazomanie in western Dane County has been completed ahead of schedule and the highway is open to traffic. The DOT Southwest Region asks motorists to be vigilant for workers performing finishing work near the highway.
The project began April 15 and extended eight miles between the west village limits of Cross Plains through Black Earth to the east village limits of Mazomanie. Thru-traffic was detoured beginning June 22. The $5.7 million project included the reconstruction of the WIS 78 intersection.
The DOT provided incentives for early completion in response to local concerns over potential business impacts created by the detour. Despite rain, which slowed progress recently, the project was completed Tuesday (Sept. 1), five days ahead of schedule.
