JEFFERSON, Wis. (AP) — A Lake Mills father accused of killing his 4-month-old son by hurling the boy against a wall has changed his plea to guilty.
Thirty-year-old Michael F. Wey originally pleaded not guilty to first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Nikolai Andrew Wey last summer.
He reversed his plea Thursday.
Prosecutors say Wey became frustrated with the boy's crying and threw him against a wall hard enough to leave cracks in the wall. A medical examiner says Nikolai died from skull fractures and other head injuries.
A message left Saturday with Wey's attorney was not immediately returned.
Wey faces a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison when he is sentenced March 30. The Daily Jefferson County Union reports that Wey remains jailed on $150,000 cash bond.

From NBC15's News Partner, The Lake Mills Leader:
A 30-year-old Lake Mills man who, in frustration, allegedly slammed his 4-month old son against a bedroom wall is facing a charge of first-degree reckless homicide due to the child's death.
Michael F. Wey was initially charged on Monday, Aug. 17, with a single count of physical child abuse, intentionally causing great bodily harm in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
Hospital records show that his son, Nikolai Andrew Wey, died Friday, Aug. 21, at 1:45 a.m. at UW Health American Family Children's Hospital in Madison after life support systems were removed.
A week prior to Nikolai's death, about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, Michael Wey allegedly picked up his son by one leg and, placing his other hand on the child's chest, threw him at a wall with sufficient force to cause cracks to form in the wall. The child then fell into his crib.
On Monday, Aug. 17, when child abuse charges were being filed against Wey in Jefferson County Circuit Court, Nikolai remained in extreme critical condition and was on life support as a result of extensive brain injuries.
The amended complaint states that a doctor at Children's Hospital advised investigators that as of 2:55 p.m. on Aug. 17, Nikolai's brain had basically ceased functioning as a result of his injuries.
Upon the child's death on Friday, Aug. 21, Assistant District Attorney Tris Baker indicated an intent to amend the charges. The amended criminal complaint was filed in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 2.

Hey "friend" why on earth would you blame this on alcohol? There is no excuse for what he did! None!!
I have to commend the man for pleading guilty. Its about time someone who committs a murder step up and accept the guilt and the punishment.
I grew up with this person, and I am just horrified at what he did. As a father myself I cannot comprehend WHY anyone could hurt a baby. I hope he get the maximum sentence. To anyone who is trying to excuse this by blaming it on drugs or alcohol, Stop, there is NO excuse on Earth that makes what happened OK. May the rest of the families find some peace and resolution in all of this. My heart goes out to the Mother.
