Madison Woman Dies in Crash Motorcycle driver dead after crash in Iowa County. INSIDE: Release from the Iowa Co. Sheriff's Office.

Release from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office

Date: 10/4/09, 12:11 p.m.

Location: County Rd. T 1,000 Ft. E. of County Rd H, Town of Arena.

A 1996 Harley Davidson driven by Julia M. Klauer age 44 of Madison, was westbound on County Road T when Klauer crossed the center line of County Rd T while negotiating a curve and struck an oncoming eastbound 2006 GMC pick up driven by Daniel A. Kruser age 47 of Barneveld head on.

Klauer was transported initially by Arena EMS but was pronounced dead by the responding Med Flight physician.

Speed on Klauer’s part is believed to be a factor in the crash. Klauer was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was accompanied by two other motorcyclists who were not involved in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.

Julia's accident has been almost two years. There were no drugs or alcohol involved, she did not use those. It was a wet fall day, and they really do not know what happened any more today, then they did back then. All I know is I lost one of my best friends. And it's still hurts.

Anonymous @ 04:59, you're right in a generality, but where in this story is it said Julia was speeding? Speed may have been a factor, but that doesn't mean going faster than the limit.
