It took about two months, a couple thousand dollars and a lot of help for McFarland High School Students to put together the film "Shattered."

The flick is now ready for the public. But, those behind the movie aren't hoping for big box office returns...they just want one person to think twice about drinking and driving.

" It feels like I'm in an official movie theater only it's actually like serious stuff."

It's a Monday night...but instead of sitting at home studying...13-year old Espi Tyson is at the movies with her mom, Elva.

They're not waiting to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster...instead they're at McFarland High School waiting to see "Shattered."

A film by students for students.

" You can still have fun with out drinking."

Kyle Kubicek is one of the film's stars. In the movie Kubicek goes to an underage drinking party but decides to leave.

Kubicek says, "As I am leaving I don't do anything about it and because of me not doing anything about it my friends end up getting in a car accident and I lose one of my closest friends because I just chose to do nothing."

"It really shows what kids really kind of go through."

Ron Haese is the film's writer, producer and director. He's done several other films like this in the state.

Haese says the film's goal is to make teens think twice about drinking and driving and putting it in a format they can understand.

Haese says, "We kind of show the whole spectrum of the party, their choice to drive and then the consequences of those choices."

Espi already knows that choosing to drink before you're 21 is bad and that drinking and driving is even worse.

Her mom hopes the movie will really help to drive that point home.

" She always has the right to stand up for herself and say no I don't feel comfortable...be able to call mom and say, ' Mom I need a ride home because now the situation has become dangerous.' "

Haese says there are other schools waiting to get their hands on a copy of "Shattered." But, there aren't any plans for the future of the movie.

Thank you students for standing up for what you believe in! I hope that your effort will not go in vain and other schools could show this. Maybe kids would get the message hearing from their peers? This is such an important topic and kids think "it can't happen to me" WRONG! Please DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE ~
