Recall Alert: Ford adds 4.5 Million Vehicles to Recall List
Ford Motor Co. says it will add 4.5 million older-model vehicles to the list of those recalled because a defective cruise control switch could cause a fire.

DETROIT (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. says it will add 4.5 million older-model vehicles to the list of those recalled because a defective cruise control switch could cause a fire.
Ford says 1.1 million Ford Windstar minivans will be recalled for repairs due to a small risk of fires.
The company says another 3.4 million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles with the same switches also will be recalled even though there have been no reports of fires. Those vehicles mainly are trucks and SUVs.
All vehicles covered by the recall are from the 1992 to 2003 model years.
Sherwood says this is Ford's seventh recall due to the Texas Instruments speed control switches. The recalls cover a total of 14.3 million vehicles and combined are the largest in Ford's history.

Ford was extremely unfair to the consumer by using cheap rubber trim around the windows of the Taurus...as costly as vehicles are, I will never buy another Ford product (A well cared for car on my part but the rubber trim starting looking real crappy at only 3 years old - and there are a lot more on the road, same make/model, with the same defect). The Ford dealership gave a quote of $700.00 for replacement. TOTALLY unfair! If Ford is not going to do right by the consumer during the manufacturing process it should close its doors - permanently.
how do you take care of you cruise control switch? Just another example of Ford making a cheap and defective product
People who have things against Fords usually means they dont have a good thing, I have seen PLENTY of GMS and Chrysler products ont he side of the road, It all amounts to Routine Maintainence on them, any car is going to break down if you dont take care of it
