PRESS RELEASE
Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath reports at 9:21 pm on October 19, 2009, deputies responded to a one-car crash that resulted in a fatality.
A 2001 Chevy pick-up truck, gray in color, was being driven by Lorna Elek, 64 of Ixonia Wisconsin, on Highview Road approx. 5/10 of a mile north of State Highway 16 in the Township of Ixonia.
The vehicle was northbound on Highview Road when it failed to negotiate a curve north of STH 16. It left the roadway into the west shoulder and traveled approx. 100 feet into a wooded area striking several trees.
Elek was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County's Coroner's Office. It appeared that Elek was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash at this time. Elek was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The accident is still under investigation the Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team at the time.
Assisting at the scene were Ixonia Fire/EMS and Watertown Paramedics.
