UPDATE: Driver Killed in Fiery Crash
Three more vehicles crash at same site 40 minutes later. UPDATE: Crash victim identified.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office says the fatal crash victim has been identified as Dean Berkiel, 45, of Lake Villa, Ill.

Multiple crashes in Rock County have closed Highway 14 until around 5 p.m. Rock County Sheriff's office has sent two news releases involving two separate crashes.

FIRST RELEASE:
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH
On October 21, 2009, at 1:50 p.m., members of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton Fire/EMS responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of US Highway 14 and Kemp Road.
Investigation at the scene indicates a westbound vehicle on Highway 14 left the roadway, hit a tree, rolled, and burst into flames. The driver was killed on impact. Speed is not believed to be a factor.
Highway 14 will be closed from Avalon Road to County Line Road for investigation until further notice.
Further investigation is pending. Name of the deceased will be release after notification of next of kin.
2ND RELEASE:
On October 21, 2009, at 2:31 p.m., members of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton Fire/EMS were at the scene of an off-road fatal motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 14 at Kemp Road.
Highway 14 was open and the roadway was clear when an eastbound pickup truck driven by a driver from Footville stopped in the traffic lane on Highway 14. This pickup truck was hit from behind by a Williams Bay school bus. The pickup truck then spun into the westbound lane of traffic hitting a westbound car driven by a male from Janesville.
At the time of the accident there were 5 children on the bus. The children were checked by EMS personnel and released at the scene. The pickup truck driver and his passenger were transported to Mercy Hospital, their condition is unknown. The driver of the car was uninjured. A child in a child safety seat in the car was transported to Mercy Hospital, their condition is unknown.
The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Rock County Humane Society who removed an injured dog from the truck.
Highway 14 is closed and anticipated to by closed until 5 p.m. Traffic is being detoured using CTH MM and CTH M.
